Postdoctoral Position in Theoretical Soft Matter and Biological Physics
The Theoretical Soft Matter and Biological Physics Group led by Roya Zandi at the University of California, Riverside, is seeking applications for a 2-year postdoctoral position. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. The start date is flexible.
Candidates must hold (or be nearing completion of) a Ph.D. in physics or a closely related discipline relevant to biological and soft matter systems by the start date. While prior research experience in computational modeling and coding is advantageous, expertise in analytical theory methods is equally valuable.
We offer flexibility in the research focus of this postdoctoral position. Our group’s current interests span a wide range of topics, including: Modeling the physics of virus formation, investigating deformable systems such as discrete fiber networks and thin sheets, studying multicellular organization in curved geometries, exploring cellular signaling pathways, liquid crystals, bacterial chemotaxis, and translocation.
Specific research projects will be defined collaboratively between the postdoc and the PI, allowing for creative and open-ended exploration.
Our group values interdisciplinary research and collaboration. You will have opportunities to work with experimental collaborators in the US and France.
To apply, candidates should send their application materials to roya.zandi@ucr.edu, including a CV, a list of publications, and the contact information of three references.
We strongly encourage applications from women and underrepresented minorities. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
